I pulled this card today for everyone but I know that it also has a special message in it for me. As I have been working with my guides, exploring my intention and journaling about it all, the message that keeps dropping into my consciousness is don’t worry about the details. Ask yourself, “Does this bring me joy?” If so, I am to follow through. My left brain has been in huge resistance to this. I want to make lists to cross off and outcomes to assess. This leads me to this week’s card from Doreen Virtue’s Angel Messenger deck – Vanessa. Her message is prompting us to ask, “Should I go this way or that way?” Vanessa would tell us to move toward that which brings us closer to purpose. I find joy and purpose to be intimately intertwined.

We often talk about purpose like it is something we find. I like to think of purpose as something that gets expressed and experience. It is the opportunity to allow what is on the inside of us – out. There isn’t one single role or job that allows for this. In fact, the more that we can express the depths of ourselves in the mundane the more fulfilled we will feel.

“Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself, and yourself alone, one question . . . Does this path have a heart?  If it does, the path is good; if it doesn’t it is of no use. Both paths lead nowhere; but one has a heart, the other doesn’t. One makes for a joyful journey; as long as you follow it, you are one with it. The other will make you curse your life. One makes you strong; the other weakens you.”  -From The Teachings of don Juan by Carlos Castaneda

So this week you are being asked to look at your current path and the people and circumstances within it and ask, “Does this have heart? Meaning, is who you are at your core in alignment with what you are doing? That is what purpose is. Having our heart, our values and actions all into alignment. I can’t think of a more joyful way to live. The details will take care of themselves when we walk a path with heart.
